Ten on Tuesday

Hello there! This week has been quite eventful, and it’s only Tuesday! Let me tell you about it…

1. On Saturday afternoon the coil in the bottom of our oven started sparking while I was making cookies for a family birthday party. I turned it off immediately, but it kept sparking! Scary, especially since I’ve never seen anything like that before. Van was napping with Rylie so I woke him up saying that the oven was exploding. Maybe a little exaggerated? Yes, but I didn’t know that this was a normal thing for the kind of oven we have!

And in case you’re wondering, the cookies I was making were for Oatmeal Creme Pies! I will absolutely be sharing this recipe as it was incredibly delicious and approved by everyone who ate one (or three…)!

2. On my way to work yesterday, I got in an accident on the interstate. The car in front of me stopped suddenly and I just couldn’t stop in time. Thankfully nobody was hurt and just my car and one other were involved. I’m also very thankful that Rylie wasn’t in the car with me. She wouldn’t have gotten hurt, but I can’t imagine trying to take care of her while trying to sort through everything on the side of the interstate.

My poor car is hurting pretty badly, but Van’s dad said he can probably fix it. We’re also thankful that they’re letting us borrow a car and that we don’t have to rent one in the meantime!

3. This sweet girl had her six month check up and shots this morning. She did much better than I was expecting with the shots. These bandaids on her legs just kill me though!

 4. Here’s a preview of her six month pictures! I’m so glad that I’ve stuck with this and have these photos from each of the past six months. She sits up so well by herself now, which made taking this month’s pictures a little easier than in the past!

5. Rylie got her first balloon at the party on Saturday and she was mesmerized. Between the string and the balloon itself, she couldn’t get enough!

6. Rylie was also cheering on Oregon State in baseball with her Beavers gear from our friends the Bishops. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for them to pull out a win, but she still looked cute (despite the blurry picture)!

7. She doesn’t mean anything by it yet, but Rylie has been saying “Dada” for the past week or so! It’s so exciting to see her developing vocally and we often pretend like she’s really talking to us. Some of the sounds she makes really sound like real words!

8. I’m absolutely loving summer so far! Just having more hours of daylight and sunny days make me so happy. I’m not a fan of all of these storms though! We lost power several times last week and Van has had to work overtime quite a bit. Overtime has its positives, but we’re ready for him to get home by the end of the day!

9. And speaking of losing power, we’ve learned that it’s considerably more inconvenient when you have a baby/kids! Rylie doesn’t understand why our house gets hot or why we can’t turn the lights or her sound machine on. Third world problems, but we’re thankful for electricity!!

10. Tonight we’re having dinner with our friends Steve and Heather! We’re very much looking forward to seeing their baby Lily and Rylie interact, and of course big sister Emma!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

Ten on Thursday

Wowza! These past two weeks have disappeared before my eyes! I seriously can’t believe it’s already May and that summer is just around the corner! We have had a lot going on since I last posted, but I think today I’ll just share some cutie pics of Rylie girl. Then again, I guess that’s what I’ve done since she was born so it’s not much different, but just go with me on this one!

1. It’s so hard to believe, but Rylie is over four months old now! She got her four month shots last week. Unfortunately, our appointment ended up being at exactly the time that she was hungry and ready for a nap. So she was extra happy about her shots…not! We hated to see our sweet girl so upset. Glad that’s over with! She’s still long and lean weighing 13 lb 10 oz and 25 inches long!

2. She has become so much more playful over the past few weeks. Her legs are just long enough where she can jump in her jumperoo and it makes her so excited every time she does it. She has also learned to turn around in the seat and likes to spin the toys as she tries to get them in her mouth!005

3. Right before we left for Arizona, she started sticking her tongue out all the time. This happy girl just cracks us (and herself) up!

4. She can now roll over easily from her tummy to her back and from her back to her front. Something is wrong with the sound on this video, but you still get the idea! She thinks she can crawl too and gets frustrated when she doesn’t go anywhere! I have a feeling that we aren’t TOO far off from crawling, which is exciting and terrifying and sad all at the same time!

5. Rylie takes after Van in a lot of ways (good sleeper is the main one!). Another that we have recently discovered is that she is hot natured. She gets hot so easily and then is annoyed by it. She had gotten warm one day so I ran my fingers through her hair a little and thought she looked so sweet with her hair like this! Clearly this helped cool her down and she became her smiley self again. Of course here she goes again with sucking her thumb with her hand open! Love that!

6. With all that has happened in Boston, I have been watching the news a little more lately to keep up-to-date with the craziness. Rylie decided she likes watching the news too and turns her head completely around to see what’s going on. She actually stays like this for awhile like she’s really watching it! Note to self: Limit the TV while she’s awake!

7. On Saturday we gave her rice cereal for the first time. We went all out and fed it to her with a spoon as opposed to in a bottle and she LOVED it. Of course now that she knows what’s going on, she tries to grab the spoon and doesn’t want to let go if she gets a grip on it. When I try to get the food off of her chin, she chases the spoon with her mouth and starts smacking. It’s quite the scene (and mess)! Van loves feeding her the rice cereal so I’ll let him do that and I’ll stick to the milk – much less messy!

8. We try to read at least one book before bed and we can’t get over how much Rylie seems to enjoy it. She moves her face right up to the page and even holds the edges of the book. After seeing us turn the pages, she has been trying to do it too. Smart little cookie!

9. While we were in Arizona, we got her to giggle several times and managed to catch a few on camera. She was laughing at Van here and then I was able to make her laugh as we walked through the airport in Memphis during a layover. These are some of our favorite moments since we have really been looking forward to her giggling and laughing!

10. Here’s a little sneak peek of her 4 month pictures! I took them WEEKS ago and just haven’t had time to share. They’re coming though, promise!

My goodness we love this sweet girl! Her personality is really starting to come out and it’s so much fun watching her grow and develop. Thanks for stopping by!

Ten on Tuesday

On Sunday I was thinking that I wouldn’t have anything to share today because I didn’t take as many pictures last week. You see, my camera is FULL and I can’t stand to delete any pictures! But I absolutely must continue to take pictures of our sweet girl so I backed everything up and deleted some of the longer videos I had taken. And then Rylie was being extra cute today and I filled it up again! Oh well. You get to benefit from it though because this post is pretty much all about her!

1. On Saturday my friend Jamie had our friends Casey, Katie and I over for a little girl time and Rylie and James got to hang out for a bit while they were both awake. They both napped a little while we were there, but at different times. Casey has short baby videos  on her phone and Rylie got to watch one for the first time. It was like they were on their very first movie date! I can’t wait to see these two grow up together.

2. If you live in NC, then you know that today and yesterday have been absolutely beautiful! I worked from home today so during our lunch break Rylie and I enjoyed the outdoors for a bit. We got the mail, walked down the street for a few minutes, ate lunch and played! She and I both loved it! I can’t get over how she has her feet crossed in the first photo. So relaxed!

3. So you see that adorable skirt she’s wearing? My friend Jess MADE it! It has a belt that ties into a bow, which works out great because she’ll be able to wear it for awhile! Rylie didn’t have the same views toward the belt though. She just wanted to figure out how she could put it in her mouth, per usual. I’ve thanked her a million times, but I’ll do it again. Thanks Auntie Jess!

4. Speaking of handmade gifts, my other friend Brittany made blankets for Rylie and they are perfect for cuddling up with or putting on the floor to play on. We especially love this one with our sweet girl’s name on it.

5. Rylie makes the most serious faces and it cracks us up! Yes, her shirt says Born in 2012. A little cheesy, but it was close to free and came with the cutest pants and sweater!

6. She is really starting to enjoy playing with toys now. Yet another handmade gift, this time from my friend Lisa, is this cute taggie owl. It makes a crunchy noise when squeezed and Rylie LOVES it!

7. She also had fun playing with the toys on her bouncer while we were outside today. Such a change from how she used to just stare at them!

8. I tried taking a picture of Rylie the other night and she kept putting her feet in front of the camera! Silly girl already!

9. In case you haven’t seen enough pictures of her, I have been keeping the Daily Dose of Cuteness page updated. Click the link to the left or go to the top of this page to check it out!

10. I’m all out of fun so the last thing I have to share is super random. When I got to work the other day, I noticed that my banana had split open! I have never seen this before. I guess it outgrew its skin!029

Enjoy the rest of the week! I hope you get to spend some time outside enjoying the beautiful weather…while it lasts!

Ten on Tuesday

Down to the wire, but here I am for Ten on Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start!

1. Van and I didn’t really dress up for Easter, but Rylie had a pretty little dress on! She mostly just liked chewing on the layers! The pictures I took weren’t all that great, but here are a few!

2. I did some shopping at CVS the other day and came out with my best savings yet. I paid just $1.12 for all of this! Win!

3.We thoroughly enjoyed having Friday off last week. We got quite a few things done around the house, including painting the half bathroom. Here’s a little before picture. Afters are coming SOON! We just have a few little things to finish and another room will be complete! Goodbye lovely (ugly!) yellow!

4. You know what word I don’t like? Caf. Like instead of saying cafe or cafeteria. I heard someone say it today and it just makes me cringe! That’s all.

5. The sweet baby and I had a little photo shoot the other day. We were given the cutest little hat with a big flower and I wanted to make sure I took some pictures of her wearing it while it still fits! These are a few of my favorites!

6. Would you just look at these little toesies? I just love them!

7. I made a delicious vegetarian breakfast casserole and hot corn dip to take to church on Sunday. I’m definitely going to have to share the recipes, especially for the breakfast casserole! Yumm-o!

8. I’ve noticed lately that I sure post a lot of vegetarian recipes on here. That’s odd because I’m not a vegetarian! I always seem to take pictures of the food I make that doesn’t have meat…I wonder if I do that subconsciously?!

9. When Brittany was here we had Banana Bread Pancakes for breakfast one day. They’re surprisingly not bad for you! Once you add the sweetened up syrup, well that might be a different story! Whole wheat flour, bananas and some other good stuff – so very delicious!

10. And finally, congratulations to one of my best friends Jess and her fiance James on their recent engagement!!

Ten on Thursday

Well this week has just slipped right through my fingers! It hasn’t been an exceptionally busy week, but Monday and Tuesday just left no time for blogging, so today we have Ten on Thursday! Not quite as fun and catchy as Ten on Tuesday, but it will have to work this week. Last weekend was a lot of fun and I have quite a few pictures to share as a result. Enjoy!

1. My friend Brittany came to visit for the weekend! We went to Elon together and are sisters in Alpha Chi. She works on the west coast for Elon now and I’m so glad she was able to spend the weekend with us while she was in the area for work. We loved having her here and can’t wait until her next visit!

2. In addition to the adorable outfit that Brittany brought for Rylie, she also got her an adorable outfit when we went shopping at Target! We didn’t notice at the time, but thanks to a lady in line at the checkout, we found that it matched what she was wearing exactly! We knew we liked those colors together for some reason…too funny!

3. We also went to Tonya’s baby shower on Saturday and saw a lot of friends that we hadn’t seen in awhile. Such fun celebrating Tonya and Travis and the upcoming arrival of baby Preston! We can’t wait to meet him! (Thanks to Meredith Parnell for these great pictures!)

4. Rylie has somewhat figured out how to suck her thumb recently. The way she keeps her whole hand open while doing it is so sweet!

5. We practiced rolling over while Brittany was here and I just love these pictures we took! The light combined with a naked baby was just perfect!

6. Last week we went to Rylie’s first Pancake Dinner at the Boys and Girls Club. It was my first time too for that matter! It is quite a popular event and we were excited to find Mark, Amy and Landon there at the same time! Landon enjoyed stuffing his face with his first taste of pancakes and Rylie just enjoyed her paci and being held by Mark and Amy.

7. My mom The Easter Bunny is seriously the best! Who knew that he reads blogs and saw my post a few weeks ago?! I LOVE my new Fossil wallet and Rylie is so excited about her Vera Bradley Baby paci holder and bibs! Ok maybe I’m more excited than she is, but it’s all good.

8. I love putting old and new pictures of Rylie side by side to see how she’s changed. I can’t believe how different she looks in the picture taken last week on the right compared to the one taken during her first week on the left!

9. It’s not too often that Rylie naps without her paci, but I’m glad that I caught this moment the other day. Maybe you’re tired of sleeping baby pictures, but I just can’t get enough of them!

10. A friend of mine recently told me about Origami Owl jewelry. The name is a little odd, but I LOVE their Living Locket necklaces! I’m thinking this would be perfect for Mother’s Day! Hey Van! Let’s talk preferences 🙂

Hopefully today is the last day of work for the week for you and you’re able to enjoy a long weekend with your family! We’re excited to have the day off tomorrow and are looking forward to doing a lot of things around the house, including some painting!

Ten on Tuesday

Well the week of my return to the office is finally here and it hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. Before Rylie woke up, I was thanking God for not being a train wreck and about how thankful I was for the strength He had given me. And then all of a sudden the tears started flowing. I guess I had only really thought about being at work and being away from Rylie…not actually LEAVING her. Once those thoughts set in, it was over! The rest of the morning continued to be incredibly difficult, but thankfully I had gotten everything together the night before so we weren’t rushing around like crazy people trying to get out the door.

When we got to the sitter’s, I walked around the car and looked at Rylie in her car seat through the window and the tears flowed even harder. She was as happy as could be and had no clue that I was about to leave her. It broke my heart to think of what would go through her mind when she realized that her Mommy wasn’t there later. And then when I got inside the tears just kept coming and I could barely even talk. I’m pretty sure I didn’t even tell our friend half of the stuff I intended to! But the very worst thing was actually walking out that door. It felt like I was giving my baby away and I just couldn’t handle it. I knew that I would see her later in the afternoon, but in the moment it felt like I was just leaving her and walking away. My heart was broken.

I was thankful for my long commute so that I had some time to process and somewhat pull myself together. I heard this song on the radio at just the perfect time. This part was a great reminder:

My God is strong and mighty
My God is faithful
My hope is in the Lord
For He is able

Of course the song brought more tears to my eyes, but they were good tears this time because I KNOW that my God is faithful and that He will get me through this.

When I got to work I was thankful for the fact that I get to work earlier than my co-workers! However, once they arrived and asked how I was doing, the tears just came right back. Nope. Not ready to talk about it yet! I had also brought a picture of Rylie to put on my desk, but had to put it away for the day because I just couldn’t look at her without crying. As the morning went on though, it got better and I even came back to my desk at one point to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers sitting on my desk from Van and Rylie.

The rest of the day went well and I was able to hold it together until I got home. Seeing Van holding our sweet girl looking out the window at me just melted my heart and I couldn’t wait to get Rylie in my arms. It was SO good to be home and I’m so thankful to be working from home today. What a blessing!! I’m happy to get that first day over with, but I have a feeling that the rest of the week won’t be much easier. With the Lord’s strength, I will make it through though.

In other news, here are some other things going on lately!

1. I went to another big consignment sale on Saturday with my mother in-law and oh my goodness did we come out with some great finds! I actually ended up with way more stuff (and spent even less) than last weekend! I have so many favorites, but this little Gymboree bathing suit set (for $2 by the way) just might be at the top of the list!

2. Rylie got an exersaucer for Christmas and Van put it together this past weekend. She has some growing to do before she can really play, but it was fun to watch her look at the toys on it! We have put her in it a few other times since then and she seems to be warming up to it. She usually keeps her hands down or clenched at first, but with Daddy’s urging she is slowing touching the toys now! She looks slightly terrified in this picture…

3. I’m not sure how many of you use Google Reader (for keeping up with blogs), but I was bummed to learn that Google is getting rid of it this summer! I’m looking for another Reader and have heard good things about BlogLovin and Feedly. Does anyone use either or have any other suggestions? One of the things I liked about Google Reader is that you didn’t see the ads that are on a lot of blogs. But that’s likely part of the reason they’re getting rid of it! Advertisers WANT you to see their ads. Who knew?!

4. Last night we decided that we needed a sweet treat so we made these super easy and delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Cup. I was too excited to take a picture, but everything was mixed in the cup and it turned out deliciously! It was great to enjoy a cookie and not  have several dozen sitting around tempting us. I want to try the Brownie in a Cup next!

5. I also made those Brownies with Whipped Peanut Butter Frosting that I mentioned on Saturday. They didn’t turn out nearly as pretty, but the taste? Oh yes. Don’t tell, but I used a boxed brownie mix to save time and they were still amazing. You can’t really go wrong with brownies and peanut butter, can you?

6. I’m realizing that I talk a lot about sweet things here. Maybe if I cut them out I could lose a few pounds. I usually only make stuff to take places, but who wants to cut out the sweets? I surely don’t!

7. While I was out on maternity leave, my team moved to a new building that was completely renovated. The space is really bright, clean and open. I can even see out the window at all hours of the day! One of the perks is that we have a pellet ice machine! It’s really close to my desk, which is fabulous! That made me happy-ish yesterday!

8. It’s a fact that Rylie isn’t the biggest fan of accessories, especially on her head. But she’s getting better! She didn’t even get upset when I put this little hat on her the other day. It matches a sweet seersucker dress and I can’t wait for her to wear it!

9. Toting around our stuff yesterday was made easier with this super cute bag from my friend Makenna! Of course I love the little cupcake keychain and the fact that it says ‘The Lamberts’!

10. We’re going to the Pancake Dinner at the Boys & Girls’ Club on Thursday. If you live in the area, you should join us!

Ten on Tuesday

Happy Tuesday to you! The week is off to a great start for us and I’m looking forward to another day of work today. I’m so thankful that I’m able to work from home this week and then two days every week going forward. Rylie still sleeps quite a bit during the day and is pretty content in general so I’m thinking it will work out wonderfully. So very thankful for our sweet girl! Lots to share and only a little time this morning so let’s get to it!

1. We met baby Simon on Saturday! He’s such a tiny little angel! Something about baby boys always reminds me of little old men. Anyone else? Maybe it’s because they don’t have a lot of hair, no teeth and sleep a lot? Who knows, but this guy is a cutie! And check out how itsy bitsy he looks next to Rylie! Baby Simon

2. Sadly we didn’t take any pictures of baby James. He and Rylie were squirmy little things at dinner and it quickly became obvious that eating out with two babies is quite a challenge! But we loved seeing them!!

3. I had pretty good success at the consignment sale on Saturday. It turns out that I have a thing for baby overalls…I bought two overall dresses, two short overall outfits and a long overall outfit (among other things). I can’t even tell you how many I put back. They’re just so cute! I was mostly on a hunt for bottoms and dresses since we seem to mostly have tops/shirts/onesies in 6-9 months sizes, but only a few things to wear them with! I also got some good baby board books. I think I spent about $6 on 10 books. They would have been about $6 each at the store so I’m considering that a big win! These consignment sales are awesome, especially on 50% off days! Here are a few of my favorite finds!

Consignment Collage

4. Rylie loves to look out the window and I captured this sweet pic of her and Van on Sunday morning. They were watching the birds and squirrels. So sweet!

5. I made those Honey Butter Pull Apart Rolls that I talked about on Friday. OMG they are as good as they look! I seriously think I could have eaten the entire pan! I want to put a garlicky/herby spin on them next time. You should make them. Really!

6. I also made Puppy Chow Cookies to take to church on Sunday. Yeah. That recipe is a keeper! I’ll be posting it here very soon (along with better pictures…white on white? What was I thinking?!)!

7. I can’t get enough of this cute polka dot puppy outfit!

8. Rylie is starting to sit up really well now and will even sit in the Super Seat for a few minutes! She’s not exactly sure what to do with the toys, but we’ll get there!

9. I saw these adorable straws in Target with all of the Easter stuff last week. I contemplated getting them, but didn’t really need them. I have a feeling I will be thinking of a million reasons of why I have to have them now!

10. And since I can’t think of anything else, here’s one more pic of my sleeping beauty. You can really see how much her hair is growing!

Have a great week!

Ten on Tuesday

Hello, hello! It’s hard to believe that it’s already Tuesday, but are looking forward to a nice and relaxing week after a fun and full weekend with my family. We just loved having my parents here for a few days and the weekend seemed to come and go so quickly! After several years of saying we wanted to visit my brother in Raleigh, we finally made it happen and found ourselves wondering why we hadn’t gone sooner! If Derek stays in Raleigh post-graduation, we will definitely return for more visits.

I have a lot of pictures and tid-bits to share, so let’s get started with Ten on Tuesday!

1. Rylie showed some serious love to my poor dad by majorly spitting up on him shortly after they arrived on Saturday. He was a good sport about it though. I’m sure it took him back to the days of when I was a baby!

2. My mom also had fun playing (and napping) with Rylie. How could you not?!

3. A friend recently gave Rylie this sweet blanket with a bunny attached to it and she just loves it! I think it’s so precious when she holds it like she never wants to let go. Sweet, sweet girl!

4. This past weekend Rylie decided that she doesn’t like to eat at all while sitting in the glider. She cries every.single.time I try to feed her while sitting there! It doesn’t matter if I’m nursing or giving her a bottle – she won’t have it. It’s the strangest thing. I think it may have something to with her being so long that she just feels cramped. It was pretty inconvenient this past weekend and resulted in a lot of uncharacteristic tears for her, but I’m glad that we figured it out and that she’s eating again without much fuss.

5. We waited too long to take the picture, but I just love this one of Derek and Kirsten holding Rylie. Love you Uncle D!

6. Little Miss just wanted to be held by her Daddy while we were at Kirsten’s. She would only sit happily with him or even let him feed her. Love that she’s a Daddy’s girl! I just wish this photo wasn’t so blurry!

7. Kirsten gave Rylie the cutest dress! It’s from the Nieman Marcus for Target line. I can’t wait for her to wear it next Christmas with a little cream sweater! Thanks Kirsten!

8. One of my best friends had her baby on Saturday morning! Welcome to the world Simon Paul Stone! He came earlier than expected, but both Heidi and Simon are doing wonderfully. Just look at this sweet face!

Simon Paul Stone

9. Speaking of pregnancy, I’m not a fan of this whole post-partum hair loss deal. I’m starting to think I will be bald within a matter of weeks. Ready for this to pass!

10. The dreary weather we’re having today is perfect for some sewing and other crafting. I have a few gifts to make and need to finish the flower puff project I mentioned recently. I can’t wait to share the final result!

Ten on Tuesday

It has been a realllly long time since I’ve done a Ten on Tuesday post – last January to be exact! It seems like it’s more than time to get back to it.

1. I took Rylie’s 2 month pictures the other day. I’ll post a bunch of them in the next few days, but here’s one of my favorite outtakes. Looks like she’s asking, “Are you really going to make me do this every month!?”

Rylie - 2 Months Outtake

2. I can’t believe that #1 was about her being TWO MONTHS old! How in the world did that happen!? We’re loving on this precious girl every moment we get!

3. Van and I went to the Melting Pot for an early Valentine’s Day dinner the Saturday before V-day. Oh the deliciousness! I’m thinking just chocolate or cheese and chocolate if we go again. By the time the chocolate came, we were stuffed!

4. Van and I both decided that they put some kind of magic in their Rice Krispy treats at the Melting Pot. They were more yummy than either of us could believe!

5. I came across this print recently and can think of a handful of friends who need to own it! I’m especially talking to you Jessica and Caitlyn!

Diet Coke Print

6. For Lent this year I vowed to not be on the computer, especially social media, after 4 pm so that I can deliberately spend more time with my family. It’s been a challenge, but so far, so good!

7. My parents are coming to visit at the beginning of March! So excited! My dad hasn’t seen Rylie since right after she was born so I’m excited for them to see how much she’s grown and changed.

8. We are hopefully going to make the trip to Raleigh with my parents when they’re here to see my brother. We have been meaning to go for a LONG time now!

9. I made these yummy cookies for church this past weekend. Recipe coming soon!

1o. Lots of things about food this week! But Van and I went to the new PDQ restaurant near Concord Mills this past weekend. We both had the chicken tenders with fries and honey mustard. We approve!

Ten on Tuesday

1. Even though Christmas has come and gone, I still wanted to share a few things from our first married Christmas. Here is our first tree. It kind of had an “Alison Show” going on for awhile since all of the ornaments we were the ones I had collected growing up. We got a few from Van’s mom though and now have some that we share!

I don’t think I’ve shared a picture of the carpet yet. So here you go! Enjoy it while it lasts! 🙂 It’s really not all that bad, but I’m ready for something a little (lot) more subtle!

2. We added three ornaments that were really special this year. The first came from our very own tree when we bought it! Van wrote on it right when we got home and even added the ribbon to hang it.

When we were unpacking the ornaments my mom had put aside for me last year, we found this cute treasure! What a great surprise! Thanks Mom!

And we had to get a first Christmas ornament! I particularly like it because the hanging heart is very similar to the earrings I wore on our wedding day. My mom also got us a first Christmas ornament, but I took these pictures before we got it on Christmas. The one she gave us even has our names on it!

3. We got so many lovely Christmas cards this year. It was really exciting to open the mailbox and find sweet notes and photos from some of our best friends. The display started out with a ribbon and bow, but that wasn’t working, so I just did what my mom does. Next year I may have to get a little more crafty, but it worked out just fine!

4. One of my roommates from Elon came to visit this past weekend! She was here the New Year’s that I met Van so it was definitely fun to reminisce. We had a yummy pesto pasta and chicken dinner the night she arrived and she got to eat off of the Special Plate!

So glad the first visitor to our new house was Jess!

5. We even played with the super amazing sewing machine I got for Christmas. It came with a DVD so we grabbed our coffee, set the sewing machine up and learned some good tips!

6. Today was my first day back at work after a nice long weekend. Since I worked last week, I didn’t have to bury myself out of emails like everyone else. I liked the quietness of last week, but I was glad to have other people back in the office today!

7. I’ve decided that Sunday evenings are my favorite time of the week. It’s usually just Van and I and it’s so nice to just hang out with each other and relax before the week starts.

8. We have Life Group tomorrow night and I’m so excited! We haven’t had a normal meeting/study since before Thanksgiving. I can’t wait to see everyone!

9. Today I realized that I don’t have any of my vacation time planned for 2012 yet. That’s kind of exciting! Who knows where we’ll go this year, but I’m already starting to think of some ideas 🙂 Yes, I do realize that we are only 3 days into 2012, but it’s never too early to plan ahead!

10. I don’t really have any resolutions for 2012, but I have a feeling that it’s going to be a really wonderful year. Looking forward to sharing parts of it with all of you!
